Merchants of Magick is a crunchy roll-and-write set in the Set a Watch world.
You are the owner of a magic item shoppe. As a merchant, you'll craft gear, weapons, and armor from leather, wood, and steel. You'll channel elemental, arcane, and wild energy to research spells that can enchant your items or make your work easier. As you craft and research, adventurers will travel from shoppe to shoppe seeking very specific magic items for their quest against the Unhallowed. Can you create what they need before they leave your shoppe?
In Merchants of Magick, players compete to earn the most Coins before the end of the tenth round. Each round, dice are rolled to represent the resources available. Playes use these resources to craft items and research spells on their shoppe sheets to earn more Coins by stocking their shoppe and fulfilling orders from customers passing by. The player with the most Coins at the end of 10 rounds wins!

Clever little thematic roll and write
This is a solid game with a well-executed theme, especially compared to other abstract roll and writes. There are some combos to be found, although not as many as others in the genre. The art is quite nice, and the decisions are interesting. Is this an instant classic? Not quite. Am I already looking forward to my next play? You bet!

Great Roll and Write that plays well solo
The solo rules for Merchants of Magick allow the game to play very similar to what I'd imagine the multiplayer game plays like with crunchy choices as well as a fair bit of mitigation for the dice rolls so you don't feel stuck with bad rolls - but rather, just have different choices. Strategically it works well - it's all down to planning.

Merchants of Magic
Merchants of Magic is set in the Set a Watch universe. I love the artwork, I love roll and writes and this one is very thinky and fun. There can be a small amount of advantage in your starting cards and how they align with the items that come out, but for a short filler, it is very forgivable.
