Lanterns is an incredible experience that can be taught to anyone
When I was first taught this game, I picked it up in a matter of minutes. By the time the game was completed, I wanted to play another round. I enjoyed it so much I purchased a copy for myself. The first time I taught the game it was like riding a bike, easy to teach and a good experience. At its roots it is a set collecting game with descending point value reward cards, but the way it played offers strategy and light hearted fun.

Quick tile laying / set collecting game
I just finished playing this game and I liked it. It's very easy to teach, very easy to play and it doesn't last very long so it's a good game to start a game night. It reminded me a bit of Jaipur: you exchange sets of cards for point tokens of decreasing value. The way in which you obtain the cards is different, though: you place tiles that have four different colors (one on each edge). You get a card of a certain color if the tile you place shares an edge of the same color with the adjacent tile. But, here's where it gets interesting, because you also get a card for the color pointing at your side of the table and so does everybody else. So you have to keep track of which color cards the other players need and try to avoid giving them those colors. It's a fun game and it looks very pretty on the table. The price is not bad for the game you get. Lanterns: The Harvest Festival is a good game and I recommend it.
