In Deep Sea Mines, players win tricks over 2 distinct rounds, the mining round and the drifting ore round.

During the mining round, players win tricks to acquire randomly revealed ores while placing drifting ore on the island of the same color that was used to win the trick.

In the drifting ore round, players will then collect the previously placed ore by winning tricks.
