While this game expands on many of the central themes of the game Project Terminus, and exists in a shared universe, you do not need any prior knowledge of Project Terminus to enjoy this game.

By the Light of a Broken Moon explores its core theme of human perseverance in the face of insurmountable odds through the lens of science fiction. The game is heavily influenced by stories such Annihilation, The Road, Dark, I Am Legend, The OA, and so many others.

To play By the Light of a Broken Moon, you need:

 • This book

 • An eight-sided die

 • Eight tea light candles

 • Something to write with

 • A previously blank journal/notebook is highly recommended, but anything that can be used to record journal entries will suffice.
