September 1944, Holland

The German has been defeated in Normandy and is in full retreat. The pursuing Allied armies have raced across France but have now out-run their supply lines. As the momentum of their victory is lost, the Allied commanders look to mount a bold offensive that will carry them across the river Rhine.

On September 17th, the largest airborne operation in history is launched, dropping paratroopers to capture bridges across eastern Holland and secure a route for the British XXX Corps' tanks across the Lower Rhine in Arnhem.

Inside this book, you'll find:

 • Background - A general overview of Operation Market-Garden, from its initial concept to the three airborne division's operations along the "Clube Route" corridor and XXX Corps' advance from its Neerpelt bridgehead, via Eindhoven and NIjmegen to Driel and Elst, just south of Arnhem. Also, the German response and the various battlegroups quickly formed to meet the surprise attack.

 • Army List - Designed to be used withe army lists already published in Overlord D-Day, this book contains two new army lists for the British and American airborne divisions, as well as many alterations to the German Overlord army lists, to better recreate the hard-fought battles in Holland in September, 1944.

 • Special Rules - New special rules to adapt he core Battlegroup game to the Dutch battlefields of September, 1944. The special rules recreate the character of the airborne landings, with German "scratch" forces, the tenacious character of the Allied airborne troops, British armoured support for the US paratroops, local Dutch resistance and the Allies' constant supply problems. All help to create games with the distinctive feel of the largest airborne operation ever attempted.

 • Scenarios & Campaign - 10 new historical scenarios, including a detailed narrative campaign for 1st Airborne Division's struggle to take and hold the Arnhem bridge.
